I know recently a lot of people have been slamming THE USUAL SUSPECTS - not really sure why - but I really liked it at the time and yes, I got the shock ending before it was revealed. But then I've read a lot of Agatha Christie.
Where is "Diabolique"--which actually has several great twists.
And what about twists midway through the movie, like "Vertigo", "The Crying Game", and "A Kiss Before Dying"? It's harder to sustain the story when the twist is revealed early.
I remember hearing my aunt discussing DIABOLIQUE when it first came out in the U.S. That was 60 years ago, so it must have made quite an impression on me, and I hadn't even seen the movie yet. And didn't for quite a few years.

I got the shock ending before it was revealed, too. I can't remember when I caught on, but then I also caught on to the one in THE SIXTH SENSE.

Yes, DIABOLIQUE of course. Maybe it's because so many lesser movies have copied that scene since.

I thought The Sixth Sense was pretty obvious, actually.
If I catch it, it has to be.
"Angel Heart"--a not-very-good movie with such an obvious twist toward the end it's hard to believe it was intended as a twist at all.
I'd read ANGEL HEART, so wasn't surprised by the movie. Or by the book, for that matter.
I always liked the ending of THE LAST HUNT (MGM, 1956) myself. And how about SHOCK CORRIDOR (1963)??
