Didn't read the article, but Kenny's botched eye lift from a few years back leaves him with a perpetually surprising look.

It's an interesting article. And a good song, too.

I still think of him as (a) a member of the New Christy Minstrels and (b) the singer of "I Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In." Now I'll look at the article.

I'll always think of him as the guy who sang the song I posted today, a song I heard on a Corpus Christi radio station back in 1957 and didn't hear again until I tracked it down on the Internet 50 years later. I liked it so much that both the name of the singer and the song stuck with me for all that time.

Kenny has definitely had too much work done. I've always disliked "The Gambler" intensely and the Geico ad hasn't changed my mind.

My Grandmother once claimed to see Kenny Rogers driving around with a woman not his wife. I wonder if it was really him or one of the guys from Menwholooklikekennyrogers.com

I can see that Kenny gets no respect from readers of this blog.

I wonder which "not his wife" it was. Kenny's had so many.

I absolutely never heard of (let alone heard) that song before. Kind of a do-wop sound. Kenny's voice was a lot higher in the '50s, wasn't it?

I know I've shared this story before but sometime in late 1979 I was driving through a rural area of Georgia, getting no radio reception, and into my mind popped Kenny Rogers' "Lucille". For TWO SOLID HOURS, I could not get that damned song out of my head. Finally it got so bad I prayed that God would take that song out of my head. I just couldn't get rid of it!

So Lucille wouldn't pick a fine time to leave you?

Don't get me started, Bill!

That is the kind of nightmare I have sometimes, where every time I fall back asleep it is on a loop.
