"My Name is Mud" by Eddie Rambeau?

I guess whoever picked that one was a little off.

NYC top 10 for 7/7/65:

1 1 (I Can’t Get No) SATISFACTION - The Rolling Stones
2 2 I CAN’T HELP MYSELF - The Four Tops
3 3 I’M HENRY VIII, I AM - Herman’s Hermits
4 4 CARA, MIA - Jay & The Americans
5 13 I’M A HAPPY MAN - The Jive Five
6 12 WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT? - Tom Jones
7 16 SITTING IN THE PARK - Billy Stewart
8 5 DARLING TAKE ME BACK - Lenny Welch
9 7 MR. TAMBOURINE MAN - The Byrds
10 9 THEME FROM “A SUMMER PLACE” - The Lettermen

I always liked "I'm a Happy Man" which, I believe, was a much bigger hit in New York than it was nationally. "Take Me Back" by Little Anthony & the Imperials jumped from 30 to 12.

That Jive Five number didn't make a dent in Texas, or if it did, I didn't hear it.

They were from Brooklyn so maybe that explains it. We saw Eugene Pitt at a doo wop concert a few years ago, and 10 years ago The Jive Five (with Pitt) headlined a Doo-Wop Spectacular at our local high school, along with Lenny Coco & The Chimes, The Fireflies, and The Excellents (Coney Island Baby).
