BUtterfield 8/Not really. It was AMherst 4--but those names were already being phased out by the time I started making phone calls.
These were on the way out when I was a kid. But I do remember our home phone number in an Indianapolis suburb ca. 1961: STate 7-2613.
ALpine 6-2536...and it was a four-party line.
Wasn't Murray Hill also the name of a record label? I seem to remember "classical collections from Murray Hill records" but it's very hazy.
