I read this in the Times today (I get half the Sunday paper on Saturdays) and enjoyed it. But I still have had trouble getting into Dawn Powell, no matter how many ringing endorsements I've read. I guess it's me. I know the Library of America has done two volumes of her novels.
I think Dawn Powell is more interesting to read about than to read. Tim Page wrote a good autobiography, plus edited her diaries and letters. I think her best book is The Wicked Pavillion--but I never felt driven to read her.

Looking forward to reading both of her books. I have them on hold at the library.
I had no idea she was such an avid reader.
