This is one of those times when I'm happy to be a geezer and to be able to say I've never heard most of these and, indeed, don't know a lot of the groups.
The guy who put together the list lacks credibility. After all, if he knew what he was talking about he would have included the album recorded by my high school band in 1963. It was truly the worst LP ever produced. The man's list ain't complete without the 1963 Elizabeth-Forward High School Band in Concert. Even everybody in the band knew the album (and we) sucked. Ah, the horror! The horror! I'm suddenly nauseous just thinking of it.
Alas, our high-school band in 1979 were only defiling cassette tapes. However, some years after, that Londonderry High School Band was regularly appearing in the Rose Bowl Parade. I attribute this mostly to my long since having vanished from the ranks. (My mother, however, was a founding member of the Friends of Music at Londonderry which helped the band and chorus along all those years.)
Meanwhile, the closest things to disagreement I have with this guy are both Stones related...there is a decent song or two on SATANIC MAJESTIES, even if it was a slavish example of Beatles wannabe-ism, and the Stones litany of albums stopped being remotely anything like flawless with GOAT'S HEAD SOUP and has never fully recovered, as good as, say, SOME GIRLS and a good chunk of TATTOO YOU are.
I'm afraid that "Hotel California" made me hate the Eagles by about minute 2 (of approximately five hours).
BTW, everyone's supplementary suggestions are Spot On. Perhaps I'm just as happy, Steve, that I'm not sure without Looking It Up who ICP is...
For me, what's missing are mostly bands that are from earlier than this guy's time frame, such as Mountain and The Royal Teens and, of course, the Bee Gees...but also Lionel Richie (who did Phil Collins one better, and didn't even come up with catchy bad and infrequently decent songs).
Oh, me, too. But unless your harmonies are transcendent, I have difficulty with whiny music. The Beach Boys often but not always pass muster.
In fact, "Ten Thousand Light Years From Home" was the first Stones song my punk-rock-oriented ex seemed to find truly engaging...as in, Hey, they were actually interesting once.

I agree about SATANIC MAJESTIES. As for the Eagles, they have several songs I like. But then I'm a harmony guy.
