That article was rubbishy attempt to sensationalize a life that needs no sensationalizing. But the book about Chaucer's life in 1386 might be interesting.
He had an interesting, in many ways exciting, life, and by his marriage he was connected to the great families of England; but there was no need for the tone of the article which seems to have been written for people who know nothing about history that doesn't involve bloodshed, gangsters, and madness.

When I took a Chaucer course many years ago, we learned all that stuff in a considerably more sedate way.
He had an interesting, in many ways exciting, life, and by his marriage he was connected to the great families of England; but there was no need for the tone of the article which seems to have been written for people who know nothing about history that doesn't involve bloodshed, gangsters, and madness.
