A Forgotten Writer

theguardian.com: RA Lafferty might just be the most important science-fiction writer you've never heard of.

As someone familiar with anime and manga, it doesn't surprise me that Lafferty is popular in Japan. The Japanese love weirdness. The Prisoner was very popular an influential in Japan.

As for his lack of recognition here, well a prophet is never respected in his home town.

Didn't realize he was so popular there. I really like his stories and don't find most of the ones I've read too difficult.

He was a guest at an L.A. comic con circa 1972. Unfortunately, most comic fans weren't interested in a s-f writer at that venue.
