I loved Watership Down and read Shardik right after. Shardik was an amazing book, one of the few books I've read where I got so immersed in it that I started taking on the mood of the protagonist. It's one of my all-time favorites.
I'd have to suggest that if entered in the formal list, SHARDIK would have to be this week's least-forgotten book, though...
Well...maybe after THE MOONSTONE.
