I don't know how much work he may have had done but if you see Bill Hayes today you'd never believe he just turned 88.

And yes, I can sing all the songs and I did have a cookskin cap.

But how many of you have ever heard the Timy Curry version?

I certainly hadn't but it isn't something you'll forget once you do.

Tim, not Timy

I wonder if there's a William Shatner version.

Your incredibly trivial trivia for the day: Remember the scene in Close Encounters where Richard Dreyfus is building Devil's Tower in his living room? Well, there's a tv on in the background and it's showing "Days of Our Lives." The scene being aired features Bill Hayes and his then-wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes, who played one of the main couples on that soap opera.

I would add that the scene always nagged at me because several hours later Richard Dreyfus finally sees the real Devil's Tower being broadcast on the evening news--the ABC evening news. But "Days of Our Lives" was an NBC show, meaning that in the middle of obsessively building the replica in his house, Dreyfus's character thought to change the channel!

/It's a good thing there are no big problems in the world, so I have time to obsess over things like this.

Hey, somebody has to worry about this stuff so the rest of us don't.

Deb, Hayes and Seaforth-Hayes are still married. I thought maybe your comment implied otherwise.

Oh, man. Those were the days even if my parents never sprung for that hat.

Thanks for the update, Jeff. Glad to know Bill is still alive and that he and Susan Seaforth are still married.
