Well, as a former resident of the Packard Motor Car Building in Philadelphia, I can only suggest that almost all of these collapsing into the company responsible for the Rambler American was all too inevitable. Though Studebaker certainly had its points...Tucker-esque, only actually making good and innovative cars for a stretch.
Crosley was an appliance maker from Cincinnati that decided to make cars. Their compact size was a problem as was their aluminum engines and poor brake design.
Too bad the article didn't mention the Allstate, a car you could buy at the local Sears, Roebuck.
