One company is building a flying car for mass manufacture. - By Annie Lowrey - Slate Magazine: "The answer is: We actually have had flying cars, real flying cars, for decades. They just have never successfully made it into mass production. The problem has never been making flying cars. It's selling them."

The thing is that people don't want a flying car that is a car that behaves like an airplane, that you have to drive to airport before you take off. What people want is a car that you can be driving along and then decide to take off and fly for a while. In short, what people really want is Fred MacMurray's Model T in The Absent Minded Professor.
