I've read nearly half of these. They did a terrific television adaptation of Winterson's Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit.

Haven’t heard of some of them; haven’t read half of them; but all my favorites are there (Austen, Dickens, Carroll, Chesterton, Waugh, Kipling, Naipaul, Gaiman, Pratchett) so I’m fine with it. Should probably have worked in Greene and Powell, though.

THE WOMAN IN WHITE or THE MOONSTONE, perhaps. And Christie or Sayers. Probably
Arthur C. Clarke and John Wyndham.
