'They Shoot Horses, Don't They?' Actress Susannah York Dies - The Hollywood Reporter: "British actress Susannah York, who earned a best supporting actress for her role as a dance marathon contestant in the 1969 Sydney Pollack film They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, passed away Friday from advanced bone marrow cancer. She was 72.

At her most beautiful and seductive in the wonderful THE SILENT PARTNER with Elliott Gould and Christopher Plummer. A true English rose, she will be missed.
Sorry to hear that.
Needless to say (I hope), Susannah York did not win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for They Shoot Horse or anything else. She was nominated, however.
She was in a lot of memorable things in the '60s and '70s but I haven't seen any of her recent work.
72 is way too young.

She portrayed Thomas Moore's daughter very well in A Man for All Seasons.
