Southland

When NBC canceled Southland, the outcry from anguished fans reached the ears of someone at TNT, which picked up the show after only a few weeks. Next Tuesday, January 12, TNT's going to show a 2-hour "extended version" of the show's pilot episode. There'll be 13 more shows, including six brand-new ones. (The new ones begin on March 2.) Let's face it, folks. Cable's the place for a show like this, and some of the earlier episodes will have some of the previously omitted language restored. Check it out.

I wanted to see that show but never got around to it. I'll have to record it.

my opinion, good show, but hardly great. I'm much more bummed out about the fate of Brotherhood, which was one of the best crime shows cable has put out.

A Warner show on a Warner cable channel also wasn't too hard a call.

BTW, as I predicted in BROADCASTING AND CABLE at the beginning of the season and repeated today on Ed Gorman's blog, I suspect that NBC will request and get the opportunity to run some of USA's dramatic hours in the 10p hour after the Olympics, till they get some hours of their own up and running. BURN NOTICE, ROYAL PAINS, PSYCH, etc.
