HBO orders fantasy pilot 'Thrones' --The Live Feed: "HBO has given a pilot order to fantasy project 'Game of Thrones.'
The program is based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling series of novels 'A Song of Fire & Ice' and executive produced by David Benioff ('Troy') and D.B. Weiss ('Halo'). The title “Game of Thrones” is from the first novel in the series.
If greenlit, “Thrones” would represent the rarest of TV genres: a full-fledged fantasy series."

Well, we have one in syndication now, WIZARD'S FIRST RULE, since they mean "high" fantasy, I assume, as opposed to the new and already cancelled VALENTINE on the CW (Greek pantheon live under cover of humans in contemprary US, etc.).
Hah. I keep calling LEGEND OF THE SEEKER by it's first title (WIZARD'S...).
Now this is exciting - done well, without the cheese, and this could be a massive hit. I think we need a TV fanatsy with the production values of Lord of the Rings.
HBO is no guarantee of cheeselessness, I'm afraid. If Martin has enough clout or good partners, maybe.
