Short Course on The Theban Trilogy

Like Ross Macdonald, I've always thought of Oedipus as one of the first and greatest detective stories. The Theban Trilogy: "Almost 2,500 years ago, when there were few books to read and a fast-expanding population of the curious, an Athenian playwright dramatized three big questions in three great tragedies.

Where do I come from? How do I prepare for my death? What should I obey?"

OEDIPUS set the pattern for all the "amnesia" mysteries, with the detective pursuing clues that keep leading to a discovery he doesnm't want to make.
