I have fond memories of being scared as a kid by THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, although not as much as I was by Mario Bava's BLACK SUNDAY. I doubt that many kids would find the Corman movies scary these days. The big creep-out scene in PIT was the exhuming of the wife's body. You can see similar scenes with grosser makeup FX in almost any episode of CSI or NCIS.

I think you're right. Nobody finds Poe's stories scary anymore, either.
