It's 'The End' for popcorn at the movies | Life and style | The Observer: "[T]he dominance of popcorn may be at an end. A growing number of cinemas are banning it, and next month the largest art-house chain will introduce popcorn-free screenings.

Art-house patrons are never big popcorn buyers anyway. They go more for granola and home-made carrot cake (or probably factory produced carrot cake that's been labeled "home-made" by the theater owners).

Maybe the theater owners will start relaxing restrictions on outside food now that the popcorn ban is on. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten grief for bringing in a bucket of KFC.

WHAT!?

Popcorn is one of the best parts of going to the movies. I will NEVER attend a theater that refuses to serve popcorn.

NEVER.
