All for One . . . .

411mania.com: Movies - [Movies] Get Ready for The Three Musketeers: "Millenium Films, the studio behind the Rambo update and the upcoming Conan and Red Sonya updates, is also now planning a new version of The Three Musketeers.

The film will focus on how Athos, Porthos and Aramis first banded together to become the Three Musketeers.

'There aren't many branded properties like this out there, and it is a seller's market for the high-profile ones,' said Millenniun's Joe Gatta. 'You can either build one from scratch or find the ones that are available and of interest to audiences, which we did with Conan and Buck Rogers.'"

Excuse me, RED SONJA update? I think I'd better lay in a supply of food and water for the coming apocalypse.

Surely it will be better than the first one. Surely.

Well, it couldn't be worse, could it? At least I hope it couldn't.

Anyway, if this guy considers Red Sonya a "branded property" I have little hope for his Musketeers.

They were stretching it with the last Musketeers movie (Charlie Sheen? Kiefer Sutherland?? Oliver Platt???) -- who are they gonna cast this time, the Jonas Brothers?

If I owned the rights to ANY character or concept that has been made into a comic book or movie in the past 30 years, I would milk them for dear life. Hollywood obviously prefers a track record -- any track record, however dismal -- to the agony of developing an original concept.

The Three Musketeers (1948) and The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)are two favorite adventure films I can watch any time TCM shows them. I like every version of the Musketeers I've seen but esp. The Musketeer (2001) which I hope to have on DVD someday.
