True Grit Days

An old friend of mine, Fred Williams, lives in Ridgway, Colorado, where True Grit was filmed. This weekend they're celebrating with the first annual "True Grit Days." A few of Wayne's co-stars are in town for the event, and Fred took a few photos. On top is a guy who was supposedly one of Wayne's stand-ins. Below that are Angie Dickinson and Kim Darby in a crowd of autograph seekers.

gomer is itching to do a quick one thousand words on kim darby's appearance but he is going to refrain out of respect for the site owner who may or may not appreciate it. that is a nice pink argyle vest though, kin of fetching. i dont see angie dickinson though. at least not in a form i, or anyone else, would recognize.

I appreciate the restraint.

Ya gotta love "True Grit."

Well, except for Glen Campbell. I love the book, too.

You look more like a John Wayne stand-in than the guy in the cowboy outfit.

I dunno. He's got the build for it.

Hi Bill, since I was one of the organizers of the event let me straighten out a few facts: 1st, the guy in the John Wayne get-up is a gentleman from Colorado Springs named Steve Andrews. He had nothing to do with the movie except he goes around doing his look-a-like thing. Angie isn't in the other pic, just Kim and her handler, Linda Frank from Paramount. We had a great time and a great day. Kim is 60 years old and a child actress. I think that about explains things there.
