As some of you know, Kasey Lansdale (daughter of the infamous Joe R. Lansdale) is a singer. She recently performed with the Bob Wills Texas Playboy Band, and I thought this was a nice shot of her and the group, some of whom played with old Bob himself.

Bill: Just for the record, Kasey performed with them, sang with their band, and was not an opening act. She's becoming pretty well known and that was even a bigger honor. Joe
Wow. I hope she sang "San Antonio Rose." I'll correct the blog.
She sang Cline's WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT, and Loretta Lynn's, HONKEYTONK GIRL, and that's all I remember. But she didn't do any of their numbers, as that might have been gosh. They knew all the same songs though, so it was easy for Kasey to find something to do with them. Joe

Hearing her website samples again, Kline does seem a natural artist to cover...KL's a bit throatier and less world-weary-sounding, and perhaps thank goodness.

You've got a lovely daughter, Mrs. Joe. Does she tour much outside of Texas?
Not yet, but just wait!
Bill: Kasey does play outside of Texas, and in fact, way outside of Texas, she just did a tour in Norway with Wanda Jackson, the old Rockabilly Queen and former Elvis girlfriend, and she does tours of Italy, the newest one is for next year. She'll also be performing at a blues festival there, as an opening act, and as a full fledged act. She'll be performing on Sunday at the Texas Blues Fesitval. She is in Nashville right now, and has just finished a new CD with the producers of LeAnn Rhimes, one of which she wrote a song with. It's a great CD and should be out and about and on radio soon. Geez, I forgot all those foreign countries! I'm looking forward to that CD. I want an autographed copy.
