The Times, They Are A-Changin'

We may have talked about this before, but I believe there were a lot paperback covers in, say, the 1970s that nobody would dare to use today. I don't know if we've become more prudish (possible) or just more politically correct (also possible). For example, there's this cover from a 1975 Ballantine pb. Would anyone use this in 2007? I have my doubts.

I have my doubts, too.

There are more-explicit covers, now, but they tend to be only for fairly explicit work. Whereas relatively revealing covers seemed, from time to time, to be something to slap on just about anything throughout the past century...I somehow doubt that Jack Williamson's character was wearing a see-through bikini top and skirt and nothing else in the story, but perhaps I should read the story before assuming Earle Bergey took some commercial liberties.

Or check the covers, at least some, of Alison Tyler's books at her blog...hotlinked, as is the Bergey STARTLING STORIES cover I refer to above.

Interesting link, and I see what you mean about (some of) the covers.
