It's 2007 . . .

. . . and I find that pretty hard to believe. As my brother once said to me, "What happened to the 'eighties?" You young whippersnappers might still be lucky enough to find that time passes slowly, but you'll find out soon enough that it travels at nearly the speed of light. At any rate, Happy New Year to all. Before you know it, it will be 2008.

Happy New Year, Bill. I checked out Bob's site--he seems to have a variety of interests.

Hope the year doesn't pass so quickly that you miss it. I'm looking forward to O.W.L.S. as well as another one or two from you this year. After all this one's coming out really early.

Thanks, Benjie. My brother is as crazy as I am. Maybe crazier. The new book should hit the streets on Jan 9. There's one coming from Five Star later in the year. It's Houston Homicide, a collaboration with former private-eye Clyde Wilson.

Bill-

I just returned from a week in Arkansas and not only did time pass slowly, I believe at one point it actually ran backwards for awhile.

Best wishes to you, Judy, and the rest of the family for 2007.

Thanks, John. Maybe I should spend some time in Arkansas.

Don't go to Arkansas, Bill. Hillary Clinton was there and look at the monster she is. It might be the water.

I think they drink something else in Arkansas.
