BILL CRIDER'S POP CULTURE MAGAZINE
There's a possibly-apocryphal story that midway through one of his books, Harold Robbins decided to change the main character's name, but didn't want to go back and change the entire draft, so off it went to the publisher mid-story name change an' all.
I should add that, according to Michael Korda, the book was published exactly the way Robbins submitted it. I haven't read enough Robbins to know if there is such a book.
And no mention that Dallas McGee was changed to Travis McGee? Bill, it's too early to make readers think. :)And what was the German name in the first version? Otto? Something like that?
