This Time, by God, They've Gone too Far

The Sun Online - News: New 007 causes a stir: "JAMES Bond is no longer taking his favourite drink “shaken not stirred”.

In new movie Casino Royale 007 Daniel Craig, 38, asks a waitress: “A dry Martini, please.”

The line, breaking a tradition started by Sean Connery in 1962, is part of an image change for the superspy."

That's just wrong on so many levels, I don't know where to start. What's next? Bond's Aston Martin has a special button that dispenses hand moisturizer? He goes gambling in a sport coat with patches on the elbows? Sheesh.

He'll probably smoke a pipe and watch Dr. Phil.

Well as President Bartlett so rightly pointed out to his aide Charlie Young, a martini that's shken chips the ice allowing it to melt faster, so your man Bond is drinking a watered down drink and being snooty about it.

This is a prequel, though. Maybe it takes place before Bond has discovered his famous martini preference.

To me there should be no such thing as an "image change" for Bond. I assume they are trying to do things simply to revitalize the franchise. My opinion on this is that if they can't make good quality movies with the character that people know and love then they need to just make something completely different and let Bond go. Its ridiculous.

Shaken or stirred aside, I've never understood Bond's preference for martinis that were three parts gin and one part vodka. Haven't tried it, but sounds more than just a little vile.
