Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band dies at age 69: SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Music legend Gregg Allman, whose bluesy vocals and soulful touch on the Hammond B-3 organ helped propel the Allman Brothers Band to superstardom and spawn Southern rock, died Saturday, a publicist said. He was 69.

We named our daughter Melissa because of his song. And I danced with my daughter to that song on her wedding day. I bought all the ABB albums as quick as they were released in the 70s. I know he had his demons, but ABB put out some great music. Gregg: RIP with your brother.
Oh, way huge bummer. I love the music, was just playing "Eat A Peach" a couple of weeks ago. As August said, he had his demons, but what a musician.
Too many people my age are biting the dust. Eat a Peach and the Live at the Fillmore are classics.
The last thing I heard him do was "Long Black Veil" on the LOVE FOR LEVON live tribute CD.
