I believe "Otis Blackwell" (or a surrogate, if they changed the name - can't remember) made an appearance in AMERICAN HOT WAX.

And why is that movie still unavailable on DVD?

During my 30-year career as a professional musician (piano), I had occasion to meet Otis Blackwell a couple of times, both in Nashville during the late 1970s. He was very unassuming, very talented, and a regular guy all around. His influence on the musical world cannot be overstated. The world needs to know about him.

Definitely one of the greats. I've known about him for many years, being one of those nerds who used to read the songwriting credits on his 45s.
