We saw Jefferson Airplane with a very pregnant Grace Slick (so it must have been late in 1970). Someone sent a stuffed animal for the baby on stage and she, gracious as ever, threw it back into the audience.
I didn't like the song when it came out, but it's FAR from the worst song ever. For one thing, Starship made an even worse one: "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".
When I used to go to aerobics (yeah, there was a time) in the 1980s, this song was ALWAYS on the instructor's mix tape, no matter what other songs or styles were on it.
There is said to be an instrumental spot in the song, and Casey Casem once explained any station could therefore put their call sign or a promo right in the song, city after city, it was a different callout recording... if that was true it could explain why it became more popular.
As Cap'n Bob says, there are plenty of other songs more over-played and more hated than this 'We Built This City', I think.

For some inexplicable reason - clearly involving lack of taste - Jackie likes that horrible song.
Hard to believe such crap evolved (or devolved) out of such a great band as Jefferson Airplane. Although by this time only Grace Slick remained.

In between sets was a Hot Tuna set.
I miss the old days.

True.
And let's not forget (though I wish we could) "Copacabana."

Anything by Styx has to be right up there.
I can think of a thousand worse songs. In fact, I like this one.
