He made a big impression on me in "Bonnie And Clyde" as the guy lightheartedly kidnapped along with his girl by the Barrow Gang. They're abruptly thrown out of the car when the Barrows learn he's a mortician. It a charming scene.

I rather liked him in "Silver Streak," also in "Blazing Saddles."

Jeffrey lists his best. I can do without Willy Wonka just for inflicting Candyman on us.

One of his more obscure movies that I enjoyed a lot was 1970's "Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx" (a.k.a. "Fun Loving"), a love story where Wilder's character is a guy in Dublin whose occupation is collecting horse manure to sell as fertilizer. And then cars replace the horses.

Gene Wilder was great, and some of those from the 70's were very much classics he made.

I was thinking about him recently (and about how many people have been lost to pop culture in this very year) and a few days back I even watched a Mel Brooks film they made.

"Ah sayed, he vill rue, dah deay, he vass a Franken-schteen--" "Ohhhhhh!"
