Having to stand in line for three hours for a 90-second ride started tomorrow in 1955.

Deb, the lines weren't that long then. I went after it had been open about two weeks, and though yes, there were lines, the Jungle Ride and the Matterhorn, both E-ticket rides, were the longest, as I recall, about 20-25 minutes. Mr. Toad, Peter Pan and Snow White were shorter lines. Of course the whole New Orleans part, and the Haunted House hadn't been built.

Agreed. We used to go to Disney World when it first opened in the early 1970s. They had a strictly-enforced maximum capacity and if you got there too late you were turned away. Lines were shorter, but once Space Mountain opened, all bets were off and lines got longer. The last time we went for a family vacation, the crowds entering Blizzard Beach (the water park) were so big and so uncontrolled, I was scared we were going to get trampled.
