THE LONG AND FARAWAY GONE by Lou Berney, winner of the Best Paperback Edgar, was my choice, a wonderful book I'd recommend to anyone, including those who think GONE GIRL was a "great" mystery. This is how it is really done.

And congratulations to Martin Edwards for his much deserved award for his wonderful THE GOLDEN AGE OF MURDER.

I haven't read Berney's book, but I agree with you about THE GOLDEN AGE OF MURDER.

I had some quibbles with Edwards' book, but thought it was a magnficent achievement.

And, if anyone cares about this, Berney's is available as an ebook for $1.99. Although I'm surprised the award didn't push the price up a bit.

Edwards winning, and a certain service award, yes.

Kissing Stephen King's ass for the nth time, however, goes beyond embarrassing. Knock it off. I might even be slightly irritated if they kept automatically handing them to me.

I haven't read the story, but I'd take as many as they'd give me.
