NYC top 10 from 10/27/65:

1 1 A LOVER’S CONCERTO - The Toys
2 2 1-2-3 - Len Barry
3 3 KEEP ON DANCING - The Gentrys
4 7 GET OFF OF MY CLOUD - The Rolling Stones
5 5 LET’S HANG ON! - The 4 Seasons
6 16 I HEAR A SYMPHONY - The Supremes
7 4 YESTERDAY - The Beatles
8 9 YOU’RE THE ONE - The Vogues
9 8 RESCUE ME - Fontella Bass
10 12 LIAR, LIAR - The Castaways

The biggest jump was probably the classic "I Can Never Go Home Anymore" by The Shandri-Las, from Sure Shot to 26. It is wonderfully kitschy - "She grew so lonesome in the end, the angels picked her for their friend."

When it comes to kitsch, the Shangri-Las are hard to beat. I love photos of that group.
