This was a favorite of mine, and it came along at the right time. When I was in high school I came down with the measles. I was confined to my room in isolation and not allowed to read. (Horrors!) The curtains were all closed and my only comfort was a beat up Japanese transistor radio with a turquoise case. For almost the first time I spent time listening to top 40 AM radio. I remember the station I finally chose was KTSA out of San Antonio. I guess it was the watershed time, I don't remember listening much to radio before that but I listened pretty regularly afterward. ( I also had a serious crush on a classmate who didn't seem to know I existed, a good trick in a class of 13. The song spoke to that unrequited love as well.) Sigh!
I love this song. How many groups were there around then who used the word "electric" in the band's name? Electric Prune, Electric Flag, Pacific Gas & Electric, Electric Light Orchestra...what am I missing?

The whole album, which I had, was pretty good, but this was the best song.
Perhaps my favorite rock and roll single of all time.

You've already named more than I could.
