MAN IN THE WILDERNESS didn't acknowledge its roots in the Hugh Glass story, but it was clearly based on old Hugh's incredible odyssey, down to the name of "Zack Bass," Richard Harris' character. Frederick Manfred's 1954 novel LORD GRIZZLY also tells the Glass story -- a wonderful, wonderful book that I can't recommend too highly.

Sounds like Man In The Wilderness.
There might be a connection. There's a new Leonard DiCaprio movie that's also reminiscent of Glass' experience.
I think the DiCaprio movie is based off a novel about him THE REVENANT, by Michael Punke.
The novel is about Glass, not De-Caprio
Thanks, Gerard. I didn't know the novel was about Glass. No wonder it sounded similar to his story.

I have that book. Haven't read it, though. That's the story of my life.
