I agree with LaVyrle Spencer's inclusion, but none of the others. Where is Georgette Heyer, the woman who really created the Regency Romance genre (well, outside of Jane Austen, of course)? What about Anya Seton, who wrote wonderful mid-century historical romances? What about Victoria Holt and the gothic romance? Edith Layton? Mary Balogh?

I have to admit that I didn't know at least half the writers on this list.
