I live in the tax state of New York and here on the Western side of the State the only man you would find ordering a bagel with lox and cream cheese would be a girlie man. It's BEEF ON WECK where I come from.
Since HALF the population of NYS is here in The Big Apple you lose, August. Although I must admit I like Beef on Weck, which you can even get here in Brooklyn.
I knew Louisiana would be the po'boy--and I don't dispute that (my favorite is oyster, fully dressed). I judge a lot if local places by how good their oyster po'boys are.
Alas, the Minnesotans seem to have forgotten the ways of the old country. Meatballs and beetroot salad on rye is one of the great inventions of humankind,

No friggin' way is a falafel pita the best sandwich in OR. Who has even seen one? I won't argue with the TX choice, though.
The Texas choice was inevitable. I knew what it would be before I looked.
