The Guardian: “I could have easily have become a nun, or a prostitute, or both,” said Billie Whitelaw, who has died aged 82. Instead, she claimed that acting had allowed her to use both these sides of herself in a career that included theatre, films, television – and a special place in the affection and inspiration of Samuel Beckett.
Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

I remember her very fondly in PAYROLL, GUMSHOE and START THE REVOLUTION WITHOUT ME.
Yes--Start the Revolution is where I first remember seeing her, but as the mother in The Krays she really stood out; but until I read her obit, I had no idea how deep her relationship with Beckett was--collaborator and muse.
I didn't know that, either. Very interesting.
Also the nanny in The Omen.
