I was a fan of James Garner from watching the MAVERICK TV shows as a kid. Later, I really liked him in THE ROCKFORD FILES. Garner was a genial actor.
One of my favorites remains SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF.

Judy and I both like that one a lot, Jeff. I still remember seeing it in the theater.
I just watched him in James Michener's SAYONARA. A Great actor.
He made it all look so easy and natural. There's no one now to compare.
James Garner, Walter Brennan, Jack Elam, Bruce Dern, Joan Hackett, Harry Morgan - how could you go wrong?
Jeff
What a cast. Who could you cast now to equal it? You couldn't.
This is a shame. I usually watch episodes of The Rockford Files on Hulu on Sundays.
This would be a good day to watch one.
Not sure what to say. James Garner was always like that very favorite uncle who seems to fit just perfectly into any setting and even if you haven't seen him in a while you can't imagine life without him in it. Safe passage Mr. James/Bret/Jim et al.
Sigh.
True, and it still hasn't sunk in that he's gone. I have a season or two of THE ROCKFORD FILES on DVDs. Time to get them out.
