Totally off topic, but I have an amusing Alvin-related story for you. My husband is working in Houston this week and he was able to reconnect with a college buddy he hasn't seen in over 30 years. This guy lives outside of Alvin, so my husband drive down to Alvin to meet him and they went to Joe's Barbeque (I think that was the name) for dinner. Here's the exact phone conversation from later that night:
Husband: "Do you know who comes from Alvin?"
Me (without missing a beat): "Sure--author and blogger Bill Crider, writer of many books in many genres."
I'm glad you had the right answer to that question, Deb.
Joe's BBQ is the place, all right. Pretty good BBQ, too. And lots of Nolan Ryan memorabilia. Nolan and the owner of Joe's are buddies. When Nolan lived here, we used to see him there now and then.

I'd like to comment but I'm too busy vacuuming in a twin set with pearls and tan pumps whilst getting ready for the Ladies Bridge Club luncheon.
June Cleaver to the max.

Husband ( somewhat nonplussed): "Well, yeah, but, um, also Nolan Ryan."
