I'd probably have to get past chapter two to honestly say this is the worst RAH novel. I don't think that's likely. (And think of all those other serious contenders one would need to revisit.)

Well, I think some of the later ones are worse. They're sure longer.

Yeah, but I doubt they could be any more self-indulgent. I'd say GLORY ROAD might be the most disappointing, starting so well even given the (in this case reasonably cogent and unobtrusive) lecturing, and then falling ever more into tract.

Yes, I read the serial of GLORY ROAD in F&SF. I thought it was going to be great. Didn't quite make it.
