My first copy of the Eddison was their edition, but I've not owned any of the others. Trade paperbacks back in the heroic years, somewhat similar-looking (if slightly better-designed iirc) to the Rinehart Editions of similar vintage (Rinehart had some interesting fantasy entries among their wider remit, and their design sense improved as the series continued into recent decades).

I remember that series very well. I had a number of those books I'm sure - Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, William Hope Hodgson, etc.

I have a lot of them. Wish I had them all.
Some were definitely more deserving of the treatment than others, but it was a good series...you know the Xanadu Library series of paperbacks?
Crown's nice start on a similar program, which seems to have stalled too quickly:

I've heard of the series, but I've never seen any of the volumes. Would be fun to collect, though.
