After I worked for a time in a bookstore(Waldenbooks), I'm not amazed at any of these.
I had a woman come in and asked for that Highlander book. I took her back and showed her a number of the tie-in novels based on the show. They weren't what she was looking for. "The author was on the show last week and had written a book all about Duncan's identity."
I knew then what she was talking about. Sandra Bernhardt had appeared as a writer that knew all about the immortals and had put Duncan's story to paper.
She didn't seem to believe me when I told her it was all acting.

Strange.
My favorite was the elderly woman with the Fifty Shades comment.
Priceless.
