Stormy Weather
Having gone through a couple of hurricanes since moving to Alvin in 1983, I can sympathize with folks in Louisiana today. I hope everybody's safe and secure and that the damage isn't too bad. The photo is one I took in Galveston a short while after Hurricane Ike in 2008. Ike, Isaac, I'm not fond of those names. Stay dry, everybody.

Waiting in Natchitoches to hear when things are ok to venture back to the Northshore. I've been texting all day with friends who stayed behind. Now they're asking me for updates from New Orleans Channel 8 which is being streamed live here but they can't get because they're without power. Places along the north of Lake Pontchartrain that rarely flood, like Mandeville and Madisonville, are reported to be flooding. I'm just hoping my big old oak tree can take the sustained winds and rain or else it's another new roof for me (and another seven years on a fair plan wind/hail policy because no company will insure someone with a hurricane claim). Thanks for the good thoughts!
Glad you'e okay. We can't get wind or flood insurance through the regular channels, either. I hope your wind insurance is better than the plan we can get.
No, I think they're all basically the same since they're considered an insurer of last resort. Massive deductibles and a very low cap on payouts.
Sounds the same, all right. After our bad experience with it after Ike, we decided to become self-insured and dropped it.
