I really like this book, having first read it in Astounding Science Fiction in the April 1953 issue. The cover on this edition I think is misleading, as is the blurb. I loved this one when I was a kid, too. Also Needle.
Clement was The hard-science fiction writer of his generation. Asimov and Clarke couldn't touch him thus, even when they tried.
