Dated (especially the slangy narrator, Merrit's, voice), but surprisingly effective despite it.
As a kid I lived in Palm Springs until 1960 , and the college-student madness that was Spring Break in the Springs back then was quite realistically reflected in Swarthout's Fort Lauderdale.
And always great to see now-Mother Superior Dolores Hart doing swimsuit cheesecake. :)
I own two copies of this edition: my original well-used copy purchased when the movie came out and a "like new" I bought about two years ago sealed in plastic. I really do like it. It's an inexpensive little time machine.

I bought a copy after the movie came out, too. Still have it, but I picked this one up because it was in such good shape.
