Wow, I grew up in a small town in PA, population 2500 and I've heard of most of these. Maybe the author didn't have MTV.
What Dan said. I think there were only two of these I'd never heard of, and several were quite well known.
I grew up in NYC and never heard of any of them. But I wasn't cool...
I've heard of the Dead Kennedys but not their music. No interest in punk whatsoever.
