A personal favourite of mine, though I confess that it fall behind a later film "The Cruel Sea" starring Jack Hawkins. It's also slightly behind "The Enemy Below" starring Robert Mitchum and directed by Dick Powell.

Coward drew very much on the experiences of his friend Lord Louis Mountbatten and his time in command of the British Destroyer Leader HMS Kelly. The movie is the first movie that Richard Attenborough ever did. It was also Juliet Mills's first role, though she remembers nothing about it - she played "Shorty" Blake's baby daughter ("Shorty Blake being played by her father John Mills)

That's certainly an unfortunate freeze frame considering the title....
