Something Weird

Well, as the namesake of the video label, I have to wonder if this one has something to recommend it that the trailer doesn't demonstrate...I mean, who would've guessed on just these data that three of the best horror films of the '60s would be rough-edged no-budget items with titles such as CARNIVAL OF SOULS, SPIDER BABY, and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD...?

Only a madman would bother to watch it, from the look of the trailer. Who is doing that voice-over, I wonder, it sounds a little like Jack Webb.

"Even for a Hershell Gordon Lewis film SOMETHING WEIRD really sucked." So begins the most popular critique at IMDb...had I remembered that HG Lewis was involved, I would've known better than to hope there was something remotely good about the film.

I've seen this on big screen and I'm really not sure whether I'd recommend it to anyone. It sure has some laughs and there are some pretty wild WTF? moments throughout, especially when the witch appears. I hope she's in the trailer (I didn't watch it, don't want to ruin the experience).
