Life Imitates "Art"?

Popular past time can be dangerous and illegal - KXXV-TV News Channel 25 - Central Texas News and Weather for Waco, Temple, Killeen |: "Geocaching as a hobby has been around for a few years, but it's just recently become a very popular past time. However, the treasure you find could not only put you in a dangerous situation, it could land you in behind bars."

And I know it's from a TV station, but you'd think someone there could spell "pastime."

I'm not in the least surprised that someone at a tv station can't spell the word "pastime". To me, the greatest revelation of the computer age came when we started having written communication with people we'd known for years but had only spoken to. It's shocking to learn that so many people you assumed were fairly sharp were at best semi-literate. Not to mention lazy. Shift key, anyone? And whatever you do, don't correct them. Then you're a "spelling Nazi".

I'm a casual geocacher, and this is what seems to be a typical news story: short on facts and designed to over-emphasize alleged dangers.

Heaven forbid they should interview anybody that knows what they are talking about and get a balanced article.

BTW, they got it right that are a few caches on private property. The listings for those get pulled upon notification.

A local newscaster once said, "The man received the award post humously," to which my husband said, "I suppose he had to mulch first."

I worked at Blue Cross and someone wrote in to send a claim and it read "HMO Blue - Real Grandy".

Because I think that was the Rio Grande division but that's too funny.
